Director of Philanthropy
Director of Philanthropy
Overview
Digitunity is a national non-profit organization with a mission to make owning a computer possible for everyone. Owning a computer is vital to being able to participate fully in the modern economy, yet there are over 47 million people in the United States that do not have a computer at home. As a field catalyst in pursuit of systems change, Digitunity helps more people own a computer by shaping and strengthening the systems that make it possible.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director and collaborating closely with Digitunity’s cross-functional teams, this new full-time position leads our grant-seeking efforts, focusing specifically on securing systems-level funding from foundations, corporations, and other institutional funders, including those who support field catalyst organizations. Effort will be placed on securing funding to support Digitunity’s work, as well as engaging the philanthropic sector in supporting computer ownership efforts writ large.
This position is not just about securing funding—it’s about shaping the future of philanthropy, influencing the field, and ensuring that investments lead to lasting, systemic change. It requires a balance of strategic vision, relationship-building, and storytelling to inspire action and mobilize resources effectively.
Position Summary
The Director of Philanthropy plays a pivotal role in securing funding to advance Digitunity’s work of addressing systemic barriers to computer ownership. With a primary focus on engaging funders committed to systems-level change, this role is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive grant strategy to secure funding for Digitunity’s work. This includes identifying, researching, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with institutional funders who prioritize systems change initiatives and/or support field catalysts, as well as writing compelling grant proposals and managing grant reporting. The Director of Philanthropy will work closely with Digitunity’s management team to align grant-seeking activities with organizational priorities and ensure effective stewardship of awarded funds.
The position also works to educate and spread awareness within the philanthropic sector of the critical role that computer ownership has in supporting education, employment, health, and civic engagement. As we work toward local, robust, and sustainable computer ownership ecosystems, philanthropic engagement is essential in driving long-term investment, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and ensuring that ending the digital divide remains a priority in funding strategies and policy discussions.
This position requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills, robust listening and synthesizing skills, a proven ability to “open doors,” fluency in the unique work of systems change, and an unshakable “yes we can” attitude.
