Digital Equity Planning for a Sustainable Device Ecosystem
To achieve digital equity, everyone needs a computer. Here's how to do it.
Live webinar on Wednesday, January 25, 2023
12:00 pm PST / 3:00 pm EST
While it is imperative that the 36 million people in the United States that don’t have a computer have access to obtaining one, it is not enough. Device ownership is the cornerstone of digital equity, however, it is just part of the digital equity equation.
To highlight the comprehensive approach necessary to effectively and successfully benefit from using and owning a device, Digitunity has developed the Device Essentials for Digital Equity graphic to illustrate the many factors and considerations that lead to adoption and ongoing use.
In this webinar, you'll discover:
- The mindset shift for an expanded view of equity related to devices
- Key hardware and software essentials that enable the productive use of a computer
- The conditions and supports that lead to meaningful and sustainable device adoption and use
- And much more.
Digitunity’s perspective has been shaped by almost four decades of experience, creating local impact through the benefit of a national lens.
This webinar on Wednesday, January 25 at 12:00 pm PST / 3:00 pm EST is a continuation of the thought provoking webinar series that addresses the need for enabling systems and structure to support digital equity.

To be announced
Owning a computer is critical to thriving in the modern economy. Yet, 36 million people in the U.S. do not have a computer at home. Solving this issue at scale requires comprehensive changes to the formal and informal systems that allow an individual to obtain a computer.
Achieving digital equity requires the activation and connection of local, state, regional, and national assets and stakeholders to benefit communities with the goal of sustainable, efficient pathways to device ownership for people in need.
A robust, reliable supply of free or low cost devices is required to fill this nationwide need, as well as effective community-level systems of distribution and the provision of related services such as training, connectivity, and support. It also requires entirely new thinking.
Digitunity has released new guidance that outlines the key elements and conditions that need to be in place to ensure affordable devices and related support are available to those who need them.
In this webinar, you'll learn:
- The conditions that need to be in place to advance digital equity;
- The need for public, private, and social sector entry points;
- Why proper device preparation and configuration is crucial;
- The importance of community collaboration, input and feedback in achieving digital equity;
- And much more.
