Owning a computer is critical to thriving in the modern economy. Yet, 36 million people in the U.S. do not have a computer at home. Solving this issue at scale requires comprehensive changes to the formal and informal systems that allow an individual to obtain a computer.

Achieving digital equity requires the activation and connection of local, state, regional, and national assets and stakeholders to benefit communities with the goal of sustainable, efficient pathways to device ownership for people in need.

A robust, reliable supply of free or low cost devices is required to fill this nationwide need, as well as effective community-level systems of distribution and the provision of related services such as training, connectivity, and support. It also requires entirely new thinking.

Digitunity has released new guidance that outlines the key elements and conditions that need to be in place to ensure affordable devices and related support are available to those who need them.

In this webinar, you'll learn:

  • The conditions that need to be in place to advance digital equity;
  • The need for public, private, and social sector entry points;
  • Why proper device preparation and configuration is crucial;
  • The importance of community collaboration, input and feedback in achieving digital equity;
  • And much more.
